The Wayland CERT Team

Welcome!

Wayland's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a group of Wayland residents trained to support the local municipalities in the case of a disaster that overwhelms them.

CERTs are a Federally sponsored program originally developed in response to the California earthquakes and functions under the umbrella of the Citizen Corp Council.

If you would like to volunteer to help Wayland's CERT we have a great need for volunteers! Please click on the "Contact" link and say "I Would Like to Volunteer!"

Our latest major activity was the town-wide emergency preparedness Drill & Fair on November 7th.

During this event we simulated a major hurricane causing flooding, loss of power, and structural damage enough to require the opening of the town’s emergency shelter.

We also conducted Blood Pressure Screenings, CPR and First-Aid demonstrations, provide information on “Sheltering-In-Place”, influenza and more.

Pictures of the event (currently, unedited!) may be found here.
